  Hotel Sa Barrera is situated in the centre of Cala´n Porter, a modern suburb of Alaior, built along a cliff top, 8 kilometres from Minorca airport, and only 200 metres from the beach. From its sunny position, you have a wonderful view of the bay, and close by there are many bars, restaurants, shops and for lovers of night life, the famous "Cova d´en Xoroi" disco built in a natural grotto in prehistoric surroundings and unique in Europe. It opens over the cliffs, offering a spectacular view, as well as the local legend.

  At Cala´n Porter you will find a splendid beach of fine white sand, surrounded by high cliffs that protect it from the wind. The Cala´n Porter torrent runs along one side, after passing through Alaior and threading its way through the valley to water the many fruit orchards that line its path. The area is renowned for its produce. For the more adventurous visitors, a pathway winds upwards from the town towards Coves, a totally virgin and natural bay which in ancient times was a necropolis. Here you can view the spectacle of towering cliffs and crystal waters in paradisiacal surroundings.

  Only a few kilometres from Cala´n Porter, you can visit the archaeological remains left by the ancient population of Torralba d´en Salort. Here you will find the "Taula" -enormous stones engraved by the island´ first inhabitants-, and a huge "Talaiot", representing one of the prehistoric tribes, and among the most well conserved on Minorca. Close to Hotel Sa Barrera, there are many places of historical interest, especially "Torre d´en Galmes" another Talaiot site on the higher slopes from where the ancient inhabitants were able to control and protect their territory.
